Cultivating Qatari Cultural Legacy at the Katara Towers

Inspired by the renowned Al Thani Collection in Paris—assembled by Qatar’s Al Thani royal family—ArtLink curated a distinctive art collection for the iconic Katara Towers in Lusail. The collection reflects the rich heritage and visionary aspirations of the State of Qatar, serving as a tribute to its evolving cultural narrative and a celebration of the enduring legacy of the royal family and the State itself.

Situated at the historic crossroads of both maritime and overland trading routes, Qatar has long been a melting pot of diverse cultural influences. Goods and ideas flowed through its lands, influencing the local production of a wide variety of exceptional works of design and craftsmanship, continuously striving to excel.

ArtLink was engaged to capture this spirit and to tell the story of Qatar’s enduring artistic excellence through a visionary art and craft collection, to preserve and celebrate its enduring story for generations to come.

Crafting a Legacy

Inspired by the Al Thani Collection in Paris—a beacon of the Qatari Royal Family's cultural patronage—ArtLink curated a special selection for the Raffles Amiri Lounge, located in one of the Towers, that embodies the collection’s spirit of excellence and craftsmanship. These commissioned works serve as both a tribute to Qatar’s evolving artistic narrative and a celebration of the enduring legacy of the royal family and the nation itself.

Collaborations with expert glass artists James Lethbridge and Hanne Enemark brought to life 20 intricate glass works reminiscent of the historic masterpieces in the Al Thani Collection. As a further nod to the Al Thani Collection, these pieces are displayed similarly to those in the Paris Museum.

Strengthening Cultural Identity

The collection not only enhances the Katara Towers visually, but also reinforces Qatar’s legacy as a State that values its cultural roots while looking toward its future. It is a celebration of the royal family’s vision and Qatar’s position as a beacon of artistic and cultural excellence in the modern world.

ArtLink is honored to have played a part in crafting this narrative, curating a collection that speaks to Qatar’s past, present, and future—solidifying the nation’s cultural legacy.

This collection was part of a large-scale project for the Katara Towers that included thousands of works celebrating the land, history and culture of Qatar. Discover more here.
